Life as a Widower

A young widowed father opening up about living with loss

love reigns

Lost that bitter winter’s night,
Searching balmy summer days for you,
Beams of light from a sunset sky
Illuminate you in his radiant face.
Hope whispers tender words of warmth,
‘The light’s her kiss upon his cheek.’
Cold comfort makes me shiver,
‘Hope’s signs are not enough.’
Crashing thunder resounds your loss;
Silent lightening strikes my soul.
The winds of change blow fiercely,
Our landscape shattered beyond control.
This storm’s path cannot be stopped,
There’s nothing we can do.
There’s just one tempest we can power,
And so our love rains down on you.
